So the NBA announced the Players of the Month for January. The players that won was Kevin Durant for the Western Conference and Carmelo Anthony for the Eastern Conference. The two did amazing so far in 2014, and they are only looking to get better.
Now KD won the award because he downed 35.8 points per game, and scored 54 points in a win over the Golden State Warriors, led byPG Stephen Curry, son of former star Dell Curry. He also had 48 points in a win over the Minnesota Timber wolves, led by star F/CKevin Love. He also got a sick triple-double over the Philadelphia 76ers with 32 points, 10 rebounds, and 14 assists. Watch out Russell, you might not be the best passer out there when you come back. He also was trying to set a record for most games in a row with over 30 points scored. He is also an obvious candidate for MVP, with competition from SF Paul George, on the Indiana Pacers, and superstar SF Lebron James, on the Miami Heat. Other candidates for this award were Kevin Love, on the Minnesota Timer Wolves. Lamarcus Aldridge, on the Portland Trail Blazers, and Terrence Jones, on the Houston Rockets. Durant will also start SF in the All Star Game in New Orleans, the home of the Pelicans.
Another player that was a beast was Carmelo Anthony, he led his team from a sluggish start, and even Melo-for-Griffin trade rumors around him, showed he dosent need and trade with a great month, pretending that the bad start never happened. He racked up 29 points against the Miami Heat, led by the big 3 (SF LeBron James, SG Dwayne Wade, and F/C Chris Bosh). He was gaurding the best SF in the NBA LeBron James, showing he deserved that reward, and oh boy, this dude did. He also racked up 29 against the Pheonix Suns, who were meant to suck, but have been hotter than the real sun. The Suns were led by PG Goran Dragic and SF Gerald Green, who went from scrub to star. He also got 64 points, a fanchise high for the Knicks, over the Bobcats, led by C Al Jefferson, and proved the Player of the Month was not going to Paul George. Other candidates for this award were SG Joe Johnson of the Brooklyn Nets.SF LeBron James, on the Miami Heat, and SF Paul George of the Indiana Pacers. Melo will also start PF in the All Star Game, hosted in New Orleans, the home of the Pelicans.
These two players played their hardest in January, and deserve this award. Much respect to these two stars, and hope they keep going hard.
